Tangier, Morocco (TMT)- Ilyas El Omari, the president of the Regional Council of Tangier-Tetouan, Al Hoceima is pushing more and more towards legalizing Cannabis.

A recommendation issued two days ago following a meeting between the presidents of the municipalities of said region and members of the Council of the region stressed that “a study on cannabis profitability in the region, its pharmaceutical, medical and industrial benefits should take place soon,” before pushing further a draft law in the Moroccan parliament to officially adopt it.

If the bill is advanced for voting in the Moroccan parliament, it has high chances to pass as both Al Istiqlal and the Party of Modernity and Authenticity (PAM) may rally enough members to vote for it.

It is worth reminding that Morocco is considered to be the top marijuana provider in the world.
