Well known Amazigh activist Ahmed Assid took part of the celebration and gave a talk on the occasion.

Among others, Assid stressed that “more than four years after the adoption of the 2011 new constitution recognizing the Amazigh culture as part of the Moroccan cultural heritage, Moroccan officials are still failing to enact the new acquisitions.”

“There are indeed important acquisitions, but regulatory laws that will regulate those acquisitions are still not there. The current government has waited till the last year of its mandate [this academic year] to starting shedding some light on prospective regulatory laws,” Assid added.

“However, from what we noticed recently, we are optimistic that change will take place,” Assid stressed.
