Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- The kingdom of Saudi Arabia has adopted a new requirement this year on all Moroccans aiming to perform the Hajj in order to obtain Visa for Saudi Arabia, one that will increase the fees by 16,580 dirhams.

Moroccans need now to subscribe to a hotel’s half board system (pay for breakfast and dinner) in Mecca, Medina and other cities throughout their prospective stay in Saudi Arabia to receive a visa.

Accordingly, and taking into account this new requirement, the Moroccan Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs has set this year’s pilgrimage costs to stand at 46.922 dirhams (does not include pin and spending money) after a meeting held last Wednesday.

Moroccan daily Aujourd’hui said that “compared to the previous year, the expenses of the pilgrimage will raise significantly, namely by 16,580 dirhams.”

Aujourd’hui added that “the pilgrims had paid 30,342 dirhams for last year’s pilgrimage.”
