Rabat, Morocco(TMT)- While speaking before members of the Justice and Development party during a party gathering last Saturday, Morocco’s head of the government, who is also the General Secretary of said party, said that it is “inconceivable to imagine that one day, homosexuals will be allowed to wed in Morocco.”

Benkirane said that homosexuals can engage in “any activity they wish in private and that the state has no right to intervene in their matters,” but Morocco’s head of the government stressed that “to move forth and officially recognize their union through marriage is something inconceivable, something against family values, against our values, and against law and jurisprudence [Islamic law and jurisprudence].”

“In Europe and all over the world, there is currently a trend about homosexual rights.

“You kind of have the feeling we are normalizing with this phenomenon, and that homosexual marriages should be a normal thing, which is not the case.

“The truth is simple and there are people behind the scenes pulling the strings. They are working very hard,” Benkirane added.

“It is thanks to their hard work that now, all over the world, the one gets the feeling homosexuality is a normal thing,” Benkirane closed.
