Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- According to a story published in today’s edition of the Moroccan daily Assabah, 2 high ranked police officers were sent to a compulsory training following a man bursting from nowhere and stopping King Mohammed VI’s convoy two days ago (featured video above), in a bet to hand the king a letter.

The man who stopped the convoy, a Moroccan who worked in Spain formerly and was obliged to head back to Morocco in the aftermath of the euro crisis, was released yesterday following orders of King Mohammed VI.

Assabah said that an investigation took place in the aftermath of the event and that a police officer with a “Commander” rank, including another one with a “Superintendent” rank, were sent to Morocco’s Royal Institute of Police Officers for a “compulsory training” after the gaffe.

The stopping of King Mohammed VI’s convoy sparked a lot of debate not only in Morocco, but also in some Arab countries like Egypt, where a journo criticized the Moroccan authorities for not shooting the man, wondering “what would have happened if the man had a gun or if he were a terrorist?”
