EDITOR’S NOTE: This post has been corrected. The Moroccan Ministry of the Royal Household, Protocol and Chancellery announced few minutes ago that the visit will take place on the 13th of March, not 15th.

Rabat, Morocco- Russian president Valadimir Putin’s foreign-policy adviser, Yuri Ushakov, told Russia’s state-operated domestic news agency “Ria Novesti” last month that the Moroccan monarch will be making an official visit to Moscow on March 13.

King Mohammed VI’s visit was scheduled to take place initially on June 2014, before getting postponed many times for no specified reasons.

The visit will come to boost the cooperation between the two countries in various sectors, especially given that Morocco is Russia’s top trade partner in Africa and the Arab World.

It is worth reminding that Morocco’s exports to Russia mainly concern the agricultural sector.

Morocco’s export to Russia have, as a matter of fact, rocketed since the European Union put an embargo on the Russian bear two years ago, back when the Crimea conflict erupted.
