Rabat, Morocco (TMT)-King Mohammed VI landed yesterday night in Russia’s capital Moscow for an official 3 days visit, aimed to broaden both countries “trade and economic connections, including in the sphere of energy and agricultural cooperation,”among others, as a statement from the Russian presidential office said last week.
King Mohammed VI landed in the Vnukovo International Airport and was greeted upon his arrival by Mikhail Bogdanov, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa.
King Mohammed VI and the Russian president Vladimir Putin are also scheduled to discuss tomorrow current international issues, with a focus on the situation in the Middle East and North Africa, including the current situation in Syria.
The visit will come to boost the cooperation between the two countries in various sectors, especially given that Morocco is deemed Russia’s top trade partner in Africa and the Arab World.
It is worth reminding that Morocco’s exports to Russia mainly concern the agricultural sector.
Morocco’s export to Russia have, as a matter of fact, rocketed since the European Union put an embargo on the Russian bear two years ago, back when the Crimea conflict erupted.
