Rabat, Morocco (TMT)-A high ranked Moroccan police officer, Superintendent [Commissaire], was placed last weekend in custody for driving while drunk, a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (known under its French acronym DGSN) said.

The superintendent was found drunk, and arrested, after getting involved in a traffic accident in the wee hours of Saturday morning, even causing property damage, but luckily not killing anyone.

The superintend was on an administrative leave for 10 days. He was arrested in “Morocco’s Red City,” Marrakesh, where he was probably spending his vacations.

The superintendent is currently in custody on orders of the Prosecutor General, pending the end of a comprehensive investigation.
