African Bank to Fund Morocco for rail infrastructure work

Marrakesh, Morocco(TMT)- Mohammed Boussaid, Morocco’s Minister of Economy and Finance and Aziz Rabbah, Minister of Equipment and Transport, chaired last Friday in Rabat the signing ceremony of a loan agreement worth $112.30 million with the African Development Bank (ADB), an agreement to secure funding for the railway infrastructure managed by the Moroccan National Railways Office (ONCF).

Yacine FAL, President Representative of the African Development Bank in Morocco signed the loan agreement with the head of the ONCF, Mohamed Rabie Khlie.

According to a communiqué from the Moroccan Ministry of Economy, “this project aims to increase the rail transport infrastructure between Casablanca and Marrakech and improve the quality of service in various train stations located between Tangiers and Casablanca, to meet the growing passenger and cargo traffic by the horizon 2020.”
