Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- King Mohammed VI is angry at Benkirane’s “there are two states in Morocco,” comments, a source close to the Moroccan palace said, Morocco’s most read news outlet Hespress.com reported in an article about the subject.

Benkirane’s “two states in Morocco” comments took place on the 26th of June when the head of the government gave a speech to members of the youth section of the Justice and Development Party (well known under its French acronym PJD) in Bouznika.

“There are two states in Morocco,” Benkirane said.

“There is an official one headed by King Mohammed VI, and another state that I don’t know where it comes from.

“I don’t know neither how they take decisions and make nominations,” Benkirane added.

Leading figures of the PJD party came at the defense of Benkirane following the news of the “royal anger at Benkirane” triggering huge interest among Moroccans. Various PJD members said that “the piece of news is not true,” stressing that “the relations between Benkirane and King Mohammed VI are excellent.”
