Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- According to a freshly released report from Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (well known under its French acronym DGSN), the Moroccan authorities arrested a whopping 300,000 criminals in the last seven months.

According to the DGSN, the number represents a 23.43% increase compared to figures from last year, for the same period.

The DGSN went on further to say in its report that “29,756 individuals were arrested in flagrante delicto.”

The DGSN added that 42,806 were arrested during the month of July.

Moroccans have been asking during the last month for more security in the kingdom in the wake of a noticed growing wave of mugging, one which triggered the launching of the very successful #ZéroGrissage (Zero Mugging) campaign on social media.
