The ceremony, held in Franceville in Gabon, was attended by newly-elected FIFA President Gianni Infantino, CAF President Issa Hayatou and Gabon’s football federation officials.
Moroccan weekly Al Ousboue said that there are high chances Morocco will organize the AFCON 2017 given the current situation in Gabon.

Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Morocco will probably be hosting the African cup of Nations 2017 if the ongoing unrest in Morocco’s-sister country Gabon persists.

No official statement was released by any Moroccan official on this new twist in the tail, but leading Moroccan weekly Al Ousboue said in today’s edition that “there are high chances that Morocco organizes the 2017 edition of the African cup of nations given the current situation in brotherly country Gabon.”

It is worth reminding that back in 2015, Morocco refused to host the AFCON after it received a motion from the International Health Organization that asked Morocco to avoid organizing the African cup due to the back-then high Ebola virus risks.
