Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Mohamed Moncef Marzouki, who was President of Tunisia from 2011 to 2014, said that various foreign investors choose Morocco over Tunisia due to the instability climate witnessed in his country.

Marzouki, who was speaking this morning at a press conference in Tunis, said that his country can be described currently as “a fragile democracy.”

“The lack of stability in Tunisia prompts investors and businessmen to opt for several other regional countries, like Morocco,” Marzouki stressed.

“The high level of corruption, mingled with a witnessed declining development, democracy and human rights is saddening,” Marzouki said.

“This is not what we fought for as Tunisians,” The former Tunisian president added.

“The Egyptian uprising was aborted by a coup, while in Syria it has been aborted by war,” Marzouki stressed.

“In Tunisia, we are living in a fragile democracy.

“There are clear signs of a lack of integrity in Tunisia.

“The 2019 elections will be either the beginning of democracy in Tunisia or an end,” Marzouki said.
