Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- The Secretary General of the PAM, Ilyass Elomari said in an interview given to francophone news outlet Telquel that Benkirane emulates the Muslim brotherhood and Erdogan when it comes to rallying huge numbers of followers.
Elomari was asked by Telquel journalists Wadii Charrad and Mohamed Etayea whether his party “could gather 20000 people, as did the PJD, for the kick off of the election campaign.”
Elomari answered saying, “Benkirane’s rally in Rabat reminds me of those organized by the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt or those of Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The leaders of these groups take advantage of those gatherings to satisfy their ego. The duty of a party should not consist of organizing huge gatherings. Benkirane is only imitating what Erdoğan has done.”
