Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- In a blatant breach of the Moroccan constitution and the concept of fairness in the election, various breaches in the electoral campaign have been witnessed as representatives of Morocco’s Ministry of Interior (Mkadems) were caught in some instances red-handed indulging in practices that tarnish the credibility and sanctity of Morocco’s Ministry of Interior, an institution whose duty is to supervise the electoral process and makes sure it is fair and transparent.

In Rabat’s Yacoub Al Mansour neighborhood, a relatively poor neighborhood, one instance saw a mkadem knocking on doors and asking people to vote for the “PAM party.”

In one instance, the Mkadem told an old woman, “We have orders from the Wilayah (Administrative division) to vote for the PAM party.”

The old woman answered saying that she prefers Benkirane, from the PJD party, which apparently was not the reaction he was expecting. This triggered the mkadem to answer, “Benkirane has serious issues with the King. Aren’t you ashamed of yourself, he wants to topple the king.”

Two weeks ago, the representatives of Morocco’s Ministry of Interior (Qaeds, Mkadems, Sheikhs, etc.) rallied Moroccans from various cities in the Kingdom for a “march against the Islamization of Morocco,” aimed to protest against Benkirane’s party, in the meantime siding with one political entity, in a blatant disregard to its supposed fair and transparent role as an institution that supervises the electoral process.
