Marrakesh, Morocco (TMT)- Two minor girls, 17 years old and 16 years old respectively, were arrested by the Moroccan police after kissing in a private house in the Hay Mohammadi neighborhood (Daoudiate), located in Morocco’s tourism capital Marrakesh.
The cousin of the younger one surprised them kissing in said house and recorded a video of the act, to then show it to her mother.
The mother in turn, outraged, alerted the police, especially that she refused to see her daughter being associated in the act with the other 17-year-old girl, a homeless girl.
The two are currently in custody awaiting for their trial, to take place in the upcoming days.
The event would have happened on the 26th of October.
It is worth reminding that homosexuality is strictly forbidden in Morocco, with article 489 of the Moroccan Penal Code criminalizing “lewd or unnatural acts with an individual of the same sex.”
Homosexuality acts in the North African kingdom can be punished with anything from 6 months to 3 years imprisonment and a fine of 120 to 1200 dirhams.
