Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Moroccan weekly Magazine Telquel reported this week, relaying from an unnamed source close to Morocco’s head of the government Abdellilah Benkirane, that King Mohammed VI does not want Benkirane to “return back the keys,” making allusion to a would-be resignation from the head of government on the sidelines of this latter facing unprecedented difficulties in forming a government coalition.

Telquel said, relaying from the aformentioned source, that the Moroccan monarch sent Fouad Ali El Himma, a senior advisor for King Mohammed VI, to share with Benkirane that the King does not want him to resign.

Al3omk, a news outlet close to Morocco’s Justice and Developement, shared a similar story last Tuesday, also relaying from an unnamed source close to Benkirane.

It is worth reminding that Abdellilah Benkirane has constantly waved the resignation card in the face of the difficulties he faced in his bet to form a government coalition, despite an impressive 125 seats victory in the last parliamentary elections.
