Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- On the sidelines of King Mohammed VI’s current official visit to South Soudan, he chaired yesterday with the President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, at the presidential palace in Juba, the signing ceremony of nine bilateral agreements in different areas of cooperation between the two countries.
The main agreement, according to the Moroccan Minister of Interior Mohammed Hassad, falls within Morocco’s ongoing commitment to promoting South-South cooperation and will concern real estate projects, especially helping South Soudan build a new capital.
“Morocco is committed to sharing its experience in terms of urbanization and urban development,” Hassad stressed, further noting that Morocco will start a feasibility study in the upcoming days in view of helping build a new capital of South Soudan,” which will require a total budget hovering around $US 5.1 million (feasibility study).
It is worth reminding that this is the first official visit of the Moroccan Monarch to South Soudan, since the country’s independence.
