Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- The secretary general of the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS) Nabil Benabdellah said, on the sidelines of King Mohammed VI reliving Abdellilah Benkirane from his duties as head of government in charge of forming a coalition, that he “wishes Benkirane had formed a government and remained in office,” qualifying Benkirane as a “nationalist”, and further noting that he “respects him” and has “esteem for him.”

“We made a lot of efforts in a bet to bridge the gap between all parties to try to find a solution to the political deadlock,” Benabdellah said.

“King Mohammed VI now took a decision, one that is constitutional,” Benabdellah added.

Benabdellah said that King Mohammed VI should be respected for his willingness to pick Benkirane’s successor from the PJD party, the party that lured the highest number of parliamentary seats in the wake of last October’s elections.
