Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- The Bundesliga best youngest talent for September (Rookie of the Month) is setting his gaze forward, stressing that his highest priority is to tape into his full potential, which includes learning from the likes of experienced current right-back teammate at Borussia Dortmund Lukasz Piszczek.
The 19-year-old told Spanish media outlets that his recent performances whets the appetite for more to come, adding that his last performances will not shine his gaze away from the few mistakes he made during his last appearances with Dortmund, in a bet towards growing his experience and the realization of his untapped potential.
This goes in line with the youngster’s raison d’être when deciding to go on loan to Dortmund for two seasons, stressing that his Real Madrid paragon Dani Carbajal completely supported his decision.
“I had a lot of offers, but Dortmund’s was the one that had be convinced,” Hakimi said to Spanish media, in an interview relayed by The Bundesliga’s official website.
“The team likes to play very attractive football and they try to make young players better. I had Carvajal in front of me at Real, but he told me to make the most of the opportunity: go there, play and enjoy it,” Hakimi said.
It is worth reminding that Hakimi scored one goal and made 6 assists in 6 games for Dortmund, including winning a penalty for Morocco against Comoros.
