Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- The Moroccan Ministry of Health has reported 8 more cases yesterday evening, bringing the total number of people who tested positive yesterday to 22.

This brings the total number of people infected with the virus in Morocco to 86.

The number represents around a 35% increase in contrast to figures from Thursday.

This is the highest number of positive cases reported by the Moroccan authorities in a one-day window timeframe since the start of the outbreak in the North African kingdom.

If we take into account the statistical and health experts’ points of view on the situation, the numbers are expected to rise more during the next 14 days.

The positive fallout of the state of health emergency and decision that the Moroccan authorities took yesterday will only start to be perceived in 14 days, and only if the majority of Moroccans observe the state of health emergency measures.

The death toll currently stands at 3 according to the Moroccan health authorities.

Said authorities further noted that to date 385 people have tested negative.
