Morocco: up to 3 a months jail sentence for people who leave their houses

Rabat, Morocco (TMT)-On the sidelines of various people taking to the streets yesterday evening to protest against the coronavirus in Morocco, the Moroccan Ministry of Interior said in a communiqué that people who transgress the state of health emergency measures and leave their houses without a valid reason will be subject to a jail sentence of up to 3 months, depending on the severity of the case, including a minimum amount of jail time set at 1 month.

Penalties for people convicted for the same type of offense will also include a fine of up to 1300 DHS, with the minimum amount of monetary fine set at 300 DHS.

A combination of both jail and monetary fine is also possible, depending on the severity of the case.
