Rabat, Morocco(TMT)- The Moroccan national statistics office, officially known as the High Commission for Planning (HCP), said that the ramifications of the measures taken by the Moroccan authorities to combat COVID-19 has forced as many as 6300 companies across the kingdom to go bankrupt.
According to the HCP, since the start of the outbreak, 142000 enterprises have brought their commercial/industrial activities to a stillstand.
This number represents 56% of overall companies registered in Morocco.
The HCP said the repercussions of the crisis prompted 27% of all enterprises to furlough their workers.
The latter percentage represents a total of 726,000 job positions.
