Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Morocco ramped up domestic masks production to reach a daily production capacity of 7 million face masks per day.

In the last two weeks, despite the country reaching a daily production capacity of 5 million face masks, criticism has come the way of Morocco’s Minister of Industry Moulay Hafid Elalamy following many Moroccans reporting not being able to acquire face masks in various selling points.

Morocco’s Industry Minister Lalami lifted the lid on the reason behind the controversy, stressing that various unscrupulous people have resorted to taking advantage of the situation given that masks were sold in 100-units packets, hoarding many packets and selling them at an above-market price.

Lalami said now the packets will be sold in 20 units, instead of 100.
