Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Moroccan political analyst Abderrahim Manar Slimi said that the head of the Moroccan government Saadedine Elothmani should sack Morocco’s Minister of Justice, Mohammed Benabdelkader, amidst the latter trying to pass secretly a bill that aims to muzzle the freedom of speech in Morocco.

“Both the Minister of Justice and the secretary-general of the government should be dismissed, as both are responsible for the preparation of the draft bill,” Slimi said.

“The Moroccan Minister of justice is responsible given that he prepared a very dangerous draft bill, dangerous to the human rights and freedoms, especially the democratic gains of the 2011 constitution,” Slimi added.

Slimi also said the head of government shares a part of the responsibility as “he accepted to include the discussion of the controversial bill in one of the council of government’s meetings.”
