Salé, Morocco (TMT)- The head of the Ibn Zohr Hospital in Marrakesh, well-known locally as the Mamounia hospital, was suspended from work for dereliction of duty.

The decision was taken by Khalid Ait Taleb, the Minister of Health, following the emergence of a video on social media platforms showing COVID-19 patients in the said hospital preparing by themselves meals and eating together from a plate of lentils, sitting around the same table.

Said video triggered a wave of condemnation on social media platforms, and urged the authorities to investigate the matter closely, which lead to the suspension of the head of the Mamounia hospital upon the completion of the investigation.

This is the second case of the head of a hospital in Morocco receiving his marching orders since the start of the outbreak.

Last month, the head of the Moulay Abdellah Hospital in salé was suspended following a patient recording a video showing how she lives in the mid of insalubrious conditions in her room and around the hospital.
