Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Morocco’s Council of Ulemas has issued a fatwa, a legal opinion, asking Moroccans to perform Eid Al Fitr prayer at home, among family members.

The highest religious authority in Morocco said Takbir (declaration of Allah’s greatness) for the Eid should be carried at home before performing the prayer.

The country’s top Muslim clerical body also said it is preferable that people wear nice clothes and take a shower before performing the prayer as it is part of the prophetic tradition.

Various Muslim countries around the world have issued a similar legal ruling.
