Moroccan tourism professionals aspire to attract more German tourists, as the dynamic German market is the largest source of tourists worldwide.

“Moroccan operators pay special attention to the German market” said Hamid Ben Taher, president of the Regional Tourism Board (CRT) of the city of Marrakech; he also highlighted the aim of the board to double the number of German tourists visiting the Moroccan first touristic city, Marrakech.

The German market, which holds significant opportunities remain untapped, despite the growing number of German tourists who visited Marrakech for the past three years, thanks to the diversification of the offered touristic product.

Tourism professionals and institutional actors are called upon to make greater efforts, especially in communication and marketing to develop new partnerships with German operators in the sector, Ben Taher added.

The Regional Director of CRT , Mr. Mountassir Boulal, stressed that Marrakech, alone, has attracted two million international tourists in 2013, whereas the number of German tourists, who occupy the 4th largest foreign visitors to Morocco, 55,000 tourists, has not yet met the aspirations of the Council, which is wishing to attract by 2020 , one million German tourists.
To reach this end, 16 direct flights are currently scheduled between Germany and Marrakech. However, this is still insufficient, given the importance of this market as the largest source of tourists; and that is located only three hours flight from Marrakech.
