The election campaigns in Algeria officially started Sunday, March 23.

All candidates have established a campaign website on the internet and Boutflika did no make the exception.

Yet, Bouteflika was the only candidate to see his website being hacked.

The hackers, seemingly in support of his main rival, uploaded an article on the website’s index page entitled “Ali Benflis will be our next president.”

The Moroccan Times understands that the website kept the “hacked” page featuring Boutflika’s main rival for a whole day before the website administrator payed attention to this.

And the following day, Boutflika’s Election Campaign Communication Director was caught saying on Facebook: “We have closed the website after many attacks emanating from IPs outside the country successfully “attacked”the website”
