Only 45 days after sparking huge controversy worldwide over killing a healthy giraffe, the Copenhagen zoo added insult to injury killing, this time, a 16-year-old male lion, a lioness of the same age, and two younger females.
The Lions were killed for the same reason the giraffe was euthanized 45 days earlier.
The zoo said it made such a decision to renew the zoo’s breeding stock.
The Zoo added in a statement: “Now two young females born in 2012 have become mature and are healthy, they can take over from the old female and form a strong triangle with the new male.”
Reuters said the lions’ body parts will be used for research.
