Ali Anzoula, Editor-in-chief of the Arabic version of Lakome.com, announced that he has written to the Moroccan Prime Minister Abdelilah Benkirane in order to protest against the ban of his news site.

Anzoula adds that he has already submitted two applications asking for the reopening of Lakome.com to the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT). However, this last refuses any action without judicial authorisation.

“The agency responded by telling me to apply to the judicial authority”, declared the journalist. “The site has not been stopped by court order but through a direct request by the ANRT, then why should I go to court?” adds Anzoula.

Anzoula wrote to Benkirane since the Prime Minister is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ANRT.

Lakome.com the site was closed in September 2013 following the publication of an article and a link to an Islamist militant video against Morocco and its king. After his detention, Ali Anouzla is now charged with “assistance to criminals who have committed acts of terrorism”, ” providing means for the commission of terrorist acts” and ” glorification of terrorist crimes.”
