Moroccan Agricultural  professionals and several civil society representatives have organized a sit-in near the European Union delegation’s  headquarter in Rabat, to protest against the final adoption, by the European authorities, of a delegated act, which modifies the Moroccan fruits and vegetables access system to the EU market.

This sit-in comes right after the Moroccan government expressed its profound concern about the before-mentioned act. In fact, the head of the Moroccan government, Mr. Abdelilah Benkirane, asked the European Union to quickly find practical solutions to preserve the Moroccan contractual achievements, so as to maintain the Moroccan fruits and vegetables’ traditional flow to the European market, in accordance with The Moroccan-EU Agricultural Agreement’s provisions.

The adoption of this new mechanism, taken unilaterally by the EU, contradicts the EU’s commitments in the World Trade Organization,  as it (the Act) completely ignores the relevant Moroccan-EU Agricultural Agreement’s provisions.
