The head of the European diplomacy, Catherine Ashton, in a response to a question addressed to her by the EU deputy, Fiorello Provera, said “In case the Moroccan Parliament adopts the bill criminalizing the normalization of relations with Israel, this would tarnish the image of the kingdom in the international community”.
Ashton also said that the EU undertakes a regular political dialogue with Morocco on all major regional issues, including those related to Israel; noting that dialogue takes place at all levels (King, Head of Government, Minister of Foreign Affairs and senior officials), as well as in multilateral forums.
As a side note, this bill has got the support of some opposition parties and other formations of the coalition government, but its adoption seems unlikely.
