The University of New England has opened recently a new campus in Tangier, Morocco.

US Ambassador to Morocco Dwight L. Bush, Sr. and Maine Governor Paul LePage attended the new campus inauguration ceremony.

The campus offers courses in health, biology, languages, history of civilization, law and other disciplines.

Though many press articles hinted that the University of New England new campus is the “First American higher education institution in Morocco”, it is worth pointing out that Al Akhawayn university, one of Morocco’s leading universities, follows the liberal-art system, another “twist of the tongue” to refer to the American system.
