Barcelona TV have reported the Catalan giants are keen on securing the 25-year-old’s services, Talk Sport reported.
It’s unknown whether Arsenal would accept an offer which is substantially lower than the £42.5m they paid Real in 2013.
“There are reports from Spain that Barcelona will make a move for Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil,” Talk Sport’s Spanish football expert Paul Breen-Turner told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show.
“He was close to joining them in 2011. Ozil is a very serious target for Barcelona and they will make a move. They’re talking about a figure of £30million, although I can’t quite believe Arsenal would even consider,” he added.
The move for Ozil may allow Barcelona to sell Cesc Fabregas, who has been targeted again by Manchester United, following last summer’s pursuit.
