Mr Lahcen Daoudi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, was caught crying in student Abderrahim Hasnaoui’s funeral.
Daoudi was caught saying that the student’s death is not just a blow for the parents, it is a sorrow for the Moroccan university and for Moroccans as well.
Daoudi added that King Mohammed VI gave his instructions to eradicate such behaviors from our universities, before closing his statement shedding tears.
21 year-old Abderrahim Hasnaoui passed away following an outbreak of violence in Fez’s Dahr Mahraz University Campus.
According to local witnesses, violent clashes took place inside the university campus between elements belonging to Islamist group ”Attajdid Tollabi” and others belonging to the Leftists of “Annahj Democrati”.
The Moroccan Times understands that leftist students started the spat after they tried to prevent a round-table organized by “Attajdid Attolabi” on “Islamists, the left and democracy”.
When clashes erupted, elements from the leftist group attacked their Islamist counterparts leaving 1 dead(passed away in a local hospital) and two injured.
Some reports say that both sides were armed.
the student, Abderrahim Hasnaoui, 21, passed away after suffering from an internal bleeding, we understand.
The late succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to a local hospital in Fez.
