Casablanca’s Buildings Collapse: Bourgoune District’s Head Under in the Hot Seat

The Moroccan newspaper Al Masae shared a story in its today’s editorial arguing that, on the sidelines of the investigation currently taking place to determine the people behind the collapse of 3 buildings in the Borgoune neighborhood of Casablanca, the Head of the Bourgoune District is being questioned by the authorities.

The aforementioned outlet argues that the Judge of instruction summoned the Bourgoune district’s head recently, but the man was not arrested.

It is worth highlighting that the two sons of the owner of the building that triggered the collapses, the contractor in charge of the restoration work that were taking place in the eve of the buildings’ collapse and the building’s architect were previously incarcerated.

The owner of the building won’t stand before justice as his body was found lifeless, buried under the rubble.

The very sad event, which resulted in the death of 24 people, has prompted the authorities to spend an arm and a leg of efforts to put behind bars those responsible for this catastrophe.

The investigation is still underway.
