Morocco To Regularize the Situation of 5000 Subsaharan Migrants

5000 undocumented sub-Saharan migrants, mainly members of families that include children living illegally in Morocco, will see soon their situation regularized by the Moroccan authorities.

The piece of news was revealed by the Secretary General of the National Council for Human Rights (CNDH), Driss El Yazami and relayed by Alyaoum 24.

According to said source, the decision was taken unanimously last week by the Board of Appeal after considering the vulnerability of the aforementioned category of immigrants.

Moreover, the source goes on to say that once regularized, those parents and their children will receive health insurance and medical assistance through the state established healthcare program for disadvantaged people, which is referred to as RAMED.

The Minister Delegate in the Interior Charki Draiss has announced that more than 20% of requests for residency by illegal immigrants in Morocco were accepted. He added that since the start of the process for resolving the legal status of illegal migrants earlier this year, 16,123 files were received by the 83 offices that were established for this purpose in all parts of the Kingdom.
