Real Madrid have won their first title of the season yesterday after beating Seville 2-0 in Cardiff in the UEFA Super Cup. Five more titles are up for grabs this season for Real Madrid: the Spanish Super Cup, the Clubs World Cup, the Copa Del Rey, the Champions League and La Liga.
After a disappointing World Cup, Cristiano Ronaldo began the new season like he left off last year, scoring two goals and winning a European title. The Welsh fans were cheering for their own hero, Gareth Bale but Cristiano Ronaldo was named man of the match by his old coach and mentor Sir Alex Ferguson. Ferguson announced after handing the award to his old protégé: “Usually it is difficult to pick one player when there are so many good ones on the pitch but Cristiano made it easy for me tonight.”
New Real Madrid signings James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos made their debut in which German midfielder Kroos put in a really good and promising performance.
It is also worth mentioning that goalkeeper Iker Casillas put in a solid performance and made some important saves, helping his teammates win the first trophy of the season.
