Germany Appoints New Ambassador to Morocco

A recent statement from the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation said that he new Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Volkmar Wenzel, presented to Mr. Salaheddine Mezouar a copy of his credentials, as the new “Ambassador Plenipotentiary and extraordinary” of Germany to Morocco.

The statement said that on this occasion, Mezouar “congratulated the new Ambassador for his appointment, expressing to him his wishes of success in his new mission,” and stressed on t”he readiness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation to take all actions to further strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.”

The statement closed saying that “Mr. Volkmar Wenzel holds a degree in political science and economics in 1983. He has held numerous senior positions within the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including that of Director from 2011 to 2014. He also served as his country’s Ambassador to Syria from 2005 to 2008, and to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, from 2008 to 2011.”
