U.S. ambassador to Morocco Dwight L. Bush was in Tangier yesterday, accompanied by a U.S. Congress delegation headed by Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia, “to explore economic and trade cooperation between Morocco and the United States,” a post on the U.S. embassy in Morocco Facebook page read.

The U.S. delegation was received by the Wali of Tangier-Asilah, Mohamed Yacoubi, the same post added.

The delegation also visited “the Tangier American Legation and met with American businessmen residing in Morocco,” the statement closed.

It is worth pointing out that an array of Moroccan news outlets shared recently various stories arguing that U.S. president Barack Obama will be paying Morocco an official visit in the upcoming months.

The speculations have it that Obama will be received in Tangier.
