The Moroccan Energy minister, Abdelkader Amara said last week while participating in a conference in Canada, organized by the Moroccan Energy ministry in partnership with the Canadian Mineral Industry Federation, that Morocco’s mining sector “contributes with 10% of the country’s the GDP” with “10% and its share in national exports is over 22%.”
During the conference, Amara emphasized “the large-scale reforms and promising prospects of the Moroccan mining sector which has always been a pivotal component of the national economy,”Maghreb Press Agency (La MAP) reported.
Amara also said that “the mining sector still faces many challenges, mainly the need for discovering new mineral deposits and ensuring their sustainable development, adding that the Morocco adopted a national strategy for development of the mining sector,” La MAP reported.
