Frankfurt, Germany (TMT)-A recent video (see underneath) published on youtube cutting off the map of Morocco, separating the Sahara from the Moroccan territory, and showing this latter as a monolithic country called “the Western Sahara” has stirred a lot of controversy and a huge condemnation in Morocco.
The said video is attributed to Al-Jazeera children, an offshoot of the leading Doha-based broadcaster Al Jazeera Media Network, funded by the ruling family of Qatar.
Moroccans thought cutting Morocco’s map was already an insult, but showing the sahara as a country added more salt to the injury.
This is not the first time Al-Jazeera hits under the belt Morocco by undermining its sovereignty.
Previous incidents where the said outlet separated the sahara from Morocco generated a lot of public outrage and frustration, but this time Al Jazeera went too far away by showing the sahara as a country, noting that the United Nations considers the said region as “disputed territory” and not as a country!
