Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- The Moroccan national team of Football Five won today the prestigious World Cup, held in Dubai, after beating neighbor Spain in the penalty shootout exercise (check video underneath), following the game initially ending with a 1-1 draw.
The first half ended with a 1-0 lead for Spain, but the Moroccan players showed great composure as they leveled up in the second half, following a huge pressure the Atlas Lions initiated, which resulted in the Spanish players finally making a mistake in their defense line and conceding the equalizer.
Morocco easily proceeded to the the quarter-final after beating Tunisia in the round of 16.
In the quarter final, Morocco won against Columbia 1-0.
Morocco had a though game in the semi-final and only managed to beat Denmark in the very last moments of the game after scoring the game’s lone screamer. The goal was scored in the very last minute of play.
It is worth reminding that Football Five is a variation of football in which each team fields five players. This type of sports is very well known and widespread in the north African kingdom.
