Rabat, Morocco (TMT)-Morocco’s Interior Minister Mohamed Hassad said yesterday while speaking before the House of Representatives in the Moroccan Parliament that criminality rate in Morocco plummeted by 4% in 2015.

Hassad also stressed that offences against the person decreased by 10%, while those against property plummeted by 12%. Hassad who was answering a question regarding Morocco’s efforts to cripple criminals, especially following the assault on three German tourists earlier this month in Fez, said that “in Fez, some 3,000 criminals were arrested and brought to justice in the aftermath of the attack.”

The Moroccan Minister of Interior also took the opportunity to announce that the General Directorate of National Security (French acronym DGSN) “plans to recruit around 4,500 new police officers in 2016.”

It is worth reminding that the DSGN recruited the same number, namely 2500 new police officers, in 2015.
