Morocco’s 20 February Icon “L7a9ed” Fills Political Asylum Application

Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Moroccan Rapper and political activist among the 20th of February movement Mouad Belghouat, well know under his stage name “L7a9ed,” has filed an application for political asylum in Belgium.

The 20 February Movement icon stressed that he “never intended to leave Morocco but that ‘circumstances’ led him to opt for this choice.”

It is worth reminding that L7a9ed was jailed twice in Morocco, once in 2012 and another time in 2014.

The man was also named in 2014 for the Sakharov Prize, a world-renowned freedom prize formerly won by Nelson Mandela.
