Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- The news of members of the youth section of Morocco’s Socialist Union of Popular Forces (known under its French acronym USFP), voting for the adhesion of a youth section from the polisario front in the International Union of Socialist Youth is steering more controversy and debate in Morocco, to the point it was discussed yesterday in the Moroccan parliament.

As a matter of fact, Morocco’s Justice and Development Party (PJD) deputy Mohamed Salem Bouihi asked the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Salaheddine Mezouar “to open in expedition an investigation on the vote of the USFP Youth in favor of the membership of a separatist entity in the International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY) organization.”

The PJD deputy even accused the youth section of the USFP “of treason,” stressing that “Morocco’s territorial integrity is a red line.”

It is worth reminding that the vote in question took place last February 28th at the yearly meet up of the IUSY, held in Tirana, Albania.
