Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- The Moroccan police said yesterday that 51 people were arrested on the sidelines of the Bac examinations, either caught red-handed cheating while sitting for exams, or helping students cheat throughout providing exam solutions on the fly on various Facebook pages.

Morocco has introduced this year a new law to punish cheaters by up to 2 years in jail, including a monetary fine ranging from MAD 2000 to 20,000.

Moroccan officials stress that the law is necessary to preserve fairness in exams.

It is worth reminding that the Bac exam is widely regarded as the most important test of a Moroccan citizen’s life.
