Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Morocco’s head of the government Abdellilah Benkirane told Spanish international news agency EFE, in an interview conducted by the head of the Moroccan section of the EFE news Agency, Javier Otazu, that he had promised Moroccans to resign if he faces difficulties [from the deep state], but he failed to honor his promise as resigning would have put Morocco’s stability at risk.

“There is one thing I promised the Moroccan people, but I failed to honor my promise.

“I told them if one day something happens to me, in a situation that I cannot stand against, a situation where I won’t see clear, something I can’t do, I will return back the keys [resign] and go.

“But I could not do that [resign].

“I did not do it because, once in power, I understood that I cannot allow myself to behave in a way that may destabilize Morocco.

“For the sake of a stable Morocco, all kinds of sacrifices are to be made,” Benkirane stressed.
