Donations to Morocco’s coronavirus fund exceeded our expectations: authorities

Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- The Moroccan authorities said that donations to Morocco’s coronavirus fund, aimed at combatting the virus in the north African kingdom, have exceeded the expectations set by the Moroccan state.

The Moroccan head of government, Saaededine Elothmani, thanked the Moroccan people in a Facebook post for their donations, further stressing that “Moroccans showcased a high sense of patriotism in these exceptional circumstances.”

Elothmani further noted that such behaviour “is no strange to the Moroccan people.”

Donations will be used to cover expenses related to the rehabilitation of Morocco’s health system, to cover expenses related to maintaining jobs and alleviating the social repercussions of the pandemic, including supporting the national economy in these dire circumstances.

The Moroccan Ministry of Economy and Finance said that people interested in contributing to said fund can send their donations by bank transfer to the following  Bank Al-Maghrib account: RIB 001 810 00 780 002 011 062 02 21.
